Aquarium powerheads are an essential item to provide the aquarium with good waterflow. They come in many differing varieties with different uses. An aquarium power head is primarily used to provide water flow in an aquarium to ensure fish get adequate exercise and so there are no harmful build-ups of toxic material in any one place in an aquarium.
There are a few differnet varities of aquarium powerheads which should all be considered before choosing which one is right for you. The tradition type is where the water is drawn up from an inlet tube and by a small plastic fan andthen pushed out through the return to give a directional flow. In recent times there has been the development of the prop based aquarium powerhead where it draws the water from behind the powerhead and circulates in a larger directional cone. This type has also taken on another step with the intruduction of a magnetised prop so that the main unit sits out of the water and has less chance of going wrong. |
