Kent Marine Tech CB Part A Calcium & Alkalinity Buffer is part of a two-part ionically balanced calcium and buffer system for improving the water quality of your marine aquarium. Our studies have found that the addition of carbonate ions and calcium ions together shows enhanced growth rates in our marine animals. Each part of the Kent Marine Tech CB Calcium & Alkalinity Buffer is half of an ionically balanced, complete calcium and alkalinity control system for use in all marine aquaria. When each of part A and B are used simultaneously in equal amounts, the system will raise both the calcium and buffer levels in the tank. Kent Marine Tech CB contains over 56,000 ppm of cationic calcium, predominately in the form of calcium carbonate and when added to water will produce an ionic residual with the composition of natural seawater. Kent Marine Tech CB is phosphate, nitrate and gluconate free. 16 oz. of Kent Marine Tech CB will treat 7,200 litres (1,900 gallons) of water.
Average dosage: Add 10 ml per 40 gallons aquarium capacity of part A and the same amount of part B each day, in a high flow area of the aquarium, until target calcium level and alkalinity are reached. Add in the morning to prevent an overshoot of pH. Never mix part A and part B together, add them to your tank separately. If cloudiness is observed, it will disperse rapidly. If your calcium level is at target and the alkalinity is low, then reduce the amount of part A you are adding by 50% and double the amount of part B until the target values are reached. If alkalinity is high, reduce the amount of part B and vice versa. Do not exceed 1/2 ml per gallon per 12 hour period. A pH of 8.0 to 8.3 and an alkalinity of 2.9 to 4.0 meq/L (8 to 11 dKH) is recommended. Calcium level should be maintained between 400 and 450 ppm. Test calcium & alkalinity and adjust the recommended dose for your system. If you use Kent Marine Kalkwasser simultaneously with this product, use half the recommended dose of Kent Marine Tech CB. If you have trouble maintaining calcium or buffer level, check your levels of magnesium. If the magnesium level is low, we recommend the use of Kent Marine Tech M Magnesium.
