Use Preis Redu-Phos to lower the harmful levels of phosphates in your tank.
The special mineral granules in Preis Redu-Phos absorb and retain phosphates, locking them away from your marine life. By reducing the levels of phosphates in your tank water, you will reduce the growth of algae. Phosphate concentrations are increased by the leaching of agricultural fertilizers into tap water, and are also produced in your aquarium through the breakdown of excess food and excreta, the addition of phosphate fertilizers for plants and the natural decay of organisms. Algae growth can become rampant if your phosphate levels exceed 0.5mg/l. Algae such as brush algae, beard algae and blue algae (Cyanobacteria) will pollute the freshwater tanks and the green filamentous algae (Spirogyra species) and red smear algae will infest seawater tanks when the phosphate levels are high. In stark contrast many corals, especially hard corals, are very sensitive to phosphates and die when the water has an excessive phosphate concentration.
